MRSA Screening: Statement of Compliance

NHS Birmingham East and North is committed to reducing healthcare associated infection. As part of this, the Trust has reviewed the Department of Health guidance on MRSA screening and considers itself to be compliant with this guidance.

This statement of compliance encompassed a review of the services which are directly provided by the Trust, as well as interventions provided in the primary care setting. Where the Trust directly commissions services included in the guidance, the Trust will review compliance with the guidance through normal contractual review arrangements.

The Trust will continue to review its position in the light of any new guidance, including around the screening of patients who may be at particular risk of contracting MRSA.

The Choose and Book System

Patients are listed for a hospital appointment through the Choose and Book system. There is a national approval process for provider organisations to be placed on the Choose and Book menu. It is through this process that Trusts are assured that all provider organisations are compliant with national policy and standards.
