Cancer nursing
Cancer nurses at NHS Birmingham East and North provide specialist, supportive care to patients and their families/carers who have a breast cancer diagnosis. We support you from diagnosis, to treatments, and after.
We can give you advice on how to deal with physical symptoms or side effects. We offer emotional support and can arrange counselling if necessary. And we offer advice on how to contact other agencies relating to social, emotional or financial issues, resulting from your diagnosis.
Who can use the service
Complex breast cancer patients, their families and carers. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP in NHS Birmingham East and North. Find out if you are covered by NHS Birmingham East and North.
How to use the service
Normally, a healthcare professional such as a GPs, District Nurse or consultant, would refer you to the service. Contact us using the details below if you want to use the service.
Where we provide the service
We offer this service in clients’ homes and community settings.
When we provide the service
Between 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, excluding bank holidays.
What if I can’t use the service?
If you can’t use this service for any reason, we recommend the following support groups.
What happens when you attend the first time
When we see you for the first time, we aim to help you cope with treatment. This could be by working with you on coping strategies to deal with side effects, treatments and any psychological impact.
