Weight management
Weight management services are available for both children and adults. These services support people in group or one to one settings to identify personal causes for weight gain, or reasons why weight loss is difficult, and then to develop individual goals and achievable lifestyle changes to bring about weight loss or maintenance.

Services on offer
Adult services
| Age | Service | Description |

| Over 16 | Size Down | Free NHS weight management courses with weekly sessions over a six week period. |
| Over 16 | Cook and Taste Groups | Practical support to develop healthy cooking skills. These are group sessions with about eight people per group. |
| Over 16 | Community dietetic service | The community dietetic service offers one to one appointments to support weight loss. |
| Over 16 | Specialist obesity service |
The specialist obesity service is accessed with a referral from your GP. It is for people with a BMI over 40 who would benefit from a multi professional approach to weight management. |
| Over 16 | Weight maintenance service | The weight maintenance service will be launched in March 2010. It will provide individualised support over a 2 year period to those who have lost 5% weight to help keep the weight off. |
Children and family services
The children’s healthy weight programmes are coordinated by our nutrition and dietetic service, there are a range of programmes tailored to different age groups.
All programmes offer free advice and guidance to help children, parents and the whole family to set goals, make healthier food choices and be more active.
