Don’t be worried about asking questions of your GP. You should understand everything that is said, and what it means to you.

Questions you might ask your GP

• What do you think is wrong with me?
• What tests will I need and what do they involve?
• How long will they take?
• When will I know the results?
• What choices do I have about treatment?
• What about the risks and side-effects of these options?
• How long am I likely to be in hospital?
• How long will the treatment last?
• Can you give me some indication of costs?
• How long will I be off work?
• What about the long-term prospects?
