Out-of-hours
If you or someone in your family needs to see a doctor when your practice is closed, do the following:
- Phone your GP practice
- Listen to the answer machine to find out the out of hours telephone number
- Call the out of hours number with your problem. You should be told what to do next.
Please note that this service is only for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until the next working day.
Urgent care centres offer a range of treatments, and have short waiting times. There are urgent care centres in Warren Farm, Kingstanding, and Washwood Heath, Saltley.

Out of hours for dental enquiries
If you have a dental problem in the evening, weekend or bank holiday, please call 0845 603 1435. You must be a Birmingham resident to call this service. If not, call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47, or visit NHS Choices.
