They never answer the phones! If I do manage to get through, I dont get an appointment on the basis that its not ‘an emergency’. Admittedly Im not exactly dying but I still need to go! Been trying for the past couple of months and I just cant get an appointment.
This is the worst ever service I have ever seen in my life. When you call no one answers the phone. You get an appoinment after 3 weeks or so I mean if you couldn’t handle it why did you open the centre in the first place. You don’t open on the weekend people like me who go to school or work, I in year 11 so I can’t even miss a day off school for appoinments because I have so many final GCSE exams going on. I’m so ill right now and it’s a saturday so I can’t come in emergency as well. Plus my throat is so swollen up to the bottom of my tongue and it’s killing me I can’t eat or drink. When I get out of bed I’m so cold I start shivering. I can’t even go to the hospital in emergency because you have to wait for a good four hours before they see you and I’m just to weak right now to wait for that long. When this happened to me last year the doctor said it was tonsalitus but I dont even know what medicine to take. Also the services are unorganised my neice keeps getting letters home with someone else’s first name but her own second name for example her name is Anayah [word removed] but she gets letters with names like Amelia [word removed] how careless is that. Also she gets letters telling her she needs injections when she’s already had them like months, weeks or a couple days ago. The doctors are really good but the reception is extremely unorganised and careless. It’s a new built thats why everyone thinks its really good but from inside it’s really bad.
As others I have tried to call with no answer letting the phone ring for long periods at a time!!!
I am a nurse and understand the term duty of care surely this term is relevant to all health serviced!!!!!
I have been told I’m having a pregnancy scan (growth) at this centre but have not had any confirmation letter.
I was trying to confirm the above.
Seriously disappointed with such a poor service!!!
By the way been on the phone the entire time I have been writing this!!

In response to the number of people frustrated by the phones not being answered at the centre, we have put an answer phone message on the reception number 0121 465 2282 so that even when the 1st floor Community Services Reception is not manned the numbers that are most often asked for are given out. Whilst this is not the answer for people who want to get through to other services that they want, we hope that it may point them in the right direction.

Must admit I have been with my doctor for years now, service was all pretty good until she moved into the richmond primary care centre, how can you have such a nice building, then no one managing the phone properly and then when you do get through, I have always been put on a triage list where you then have to wait for upto another hour for a doctor to call you back. I moved to Marston green almost two years ago now, wanted to keep the doctor etc, wouldnt mind the travelling to there, but am changing very soon to a more local one.
Hi there
I want to file a complaint to the NHS about the management of this place… they simply don’t want to pick the phone! It can’t be that I leave my phone redialing for hours and not be able to get through! I’ve never had a problem communicating with my doctor before she moved over!
Its not difficult to hire someone that is simply there JUST TO ANSWER THE PHONE! No other admin responsibilities! That will keep the person busy all day for sure!
Thanks

Gary Brown, business manager at Iridium Medical Practice at Richmond Primary Care Centre, states:
The phone system at the GP practice at Richmond Primary Care Centre has been experiencing several problems since November 2010. We saw that patient’s calls were ringing out their end of the phone, but were not being received in back reception where all incoming calls arrive. We took repeated efforts with the supplier to fix this issue, which we appreciate is a severe inconvenience to all involved. We apologise to all those who experienced problems.
The phones were eventually fixed in spring 2011, and very few issues have been raised since then. However last week a member of staff did report that a patient was having problems getting through, and there was a noticeable drop in the number of incoming calls. We explained the situation and offered apologies. No other complaints or similar incidents have been reported since, so we are seeing this as a one-off.
As before we will continue to monitor the phone system so that this does not continue, and work with the supplier if any other issues emerge.
If you do have any issues with the phone system, please do contact me at gary.brown@benpct.nhs.uk to let us know. We want to provide an excellent service to our patients and we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
