  1. Elaine Sabin says:

As a resident of Chestnut Drive, very close to the hospice, I would like to complain about the noise made on Sunday morning at 4 am by someone clearing the carpark with a JCB tractor. The whole neighbourhood was disturbed. My partner went up to the hospice and spoke to 2 nurses on the night shift, who were upset by the noise disturbing the patients. They asked the driver to stop, which he did. Unfortunately, he started again 5 minutes later. Surely it was not necessary to clear carparks at such an hour? There had been no snowfall since about 4pm, and access was still fine.
My partner logged a complaint with the local police, as the disturbance was so great.

Thank you so much for taking the time and the trouble to bring this inconvenience that was caused to you to our attention.

Could we assure you that the Management and staff at John Taylor Hospice apologises for any disturbance to our surrounding neighbours that occurred during the recent attempts to clear snow and ice from the car parks, entrances and exits of the Hospice during the weekend.

It was unfortunate that due to exceptional weather circumstances we have had to clear snow and ice and grit during the night. This was in response to a severe weather forecast.

We do have an obligation to take the health and safety of our staff and patients extremely seriously and have a responsibility to ensure safe access to and from the building. The nature of our services means that access has to be available 24 hours a day. However please be assured that we have spoken to our contractor to ask them to ensure that at any time past 11.00pm at night, that if snow and ice clearance has to take place that this is done by hand rather than by heavy machinery so as to minimise the risk of disruption to our neighbours.

Once again we would like to apologise for any inconvenience that was caused during these exceptional weather conditions.
