You said, we did: Dental hospital consultation

All primary care trusts in Birmingham undertook a consultation about dental services in hospital in 2009-10.

What was the consultation about?

There is a need to develop a clear commissioning plan for the delivery of hospital dental services. We wanted to know whether patients and the public were in support of or opposed to/ had concerns about the proposal of having a new dental hospital in Birmingham.

Who was asked their views?

Patient groups, Birmingham LINk, OSC, dental hospital patients and members of the public.

What did people say?

There was general support for a new dental hospital in Birmingham. However, there were concerns about accessibility and parking. Comments were also made about who would benefit most from any proposed relocation of the dental hospital ie the University, Students, clinicians or patients.

What was the result?

A report was compiled summarising the feedback received from patients and this report was included in the business plan for the new hospital.
