Workforce development
Workforce development activity needs to respond to NHS Birmingham East and North and the Local Health Economy workforce plans, to ensure we provide our community with a high quality service. We continue to develop a variety of Workforce Development initiatives and interventions to ensure we have a skilled and capable workforce. Current programmes include:
- Promotion and delivery of the Society Health and Development Diploma (levels 2 and 3)
- Skills Pledge with the Learning and Skills council to demonstrate our commitment to supporting the development of our staff to get skills and qualifications that will support their future employment prospects.
- Local employment partnership agreement with Job Centre Plus including secondment of a job centre employee as an NHS liaison officer
- Apprentice Scheme, to support people 16+ to gain a work experience placement for up to 12 months
- Creation of a centralised robust Work Experience Programme
- Creation of a centralised Temporary Staffing Bureau
- Future Jobs Fund initiative to support the long term unemployed back into work
- Lean training programme to encourage and employ staff to be involved in service improvement.
