Information Team
The Information Team at NHS Birmingham East and North is responsible for a wide range of functions including monitoring and supporting the information requirements for commissioning services, and supporting GP practices with quality assessments of their data.
The team manages the collection and collation of information to support the performance management agenda, which includes providing reports to the Trust Board, directors and service managers, for both provider and commissioned services.

Performance Information
The team is responsible for ensuring that all statutory reporting to the Department of Health, the Strategic Health Authority, Information Centre and other statutory bodies are completed accurately and on a timely basis. There are over 500 submissions, which are required on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis, including returns for both provider and commissioned services.
It is also responsible for coordinating the preparation, submission and monitoring of Vital Signs Plans as well as validating all information prior to submission to the Care Quality Commission in line with national and local requirements.

This role is now with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
Primary Care Data Quality
The team works with all our GP practices on data quality and GP practice systems. It assesses data against national standards to help ensure that the data quality is of high standard.
Data Quality Facilitators
Data Quality Facilitators work very closely with GPs and practice staff to help them improve patient care through the effective use of their clinical computer systems.
The facilitators provide:
- Training in information management skills and recording for data quality
- Analysis of data quality, plus a comparative analysis service focused on key clinical topics such as QOF
- Feedback and interpretation of the results of data quality and comparative analyses
- Support in developing action plans to improve data quality
- Support in achieving accredited standards for good quality data
