Goals and principles
NHS Birmingham East and North is tasked with the following four key objectives by the Department of Health:
- To improve the health of its local population
- To commission services to meet health needs
- To deliver services for community health care
- To develop and performance manage delivery by primary care contractors.
Goals
In addition to these objectives, the trust has set itself the following goals:
- To be so responsive to the population we serve that no one waits for the quality care they need.
- That the health and well-being of the population will have improved so much that people will enjoy 10 more years of healthy life.
- That people regard us as the first choice organisation to work with and for.
- Our communities will be the most involved, informed and empowered in the country.
These goals are in addition to the targets for improving health outcomes.
Principles
NHS Birmingham East and North abides by the following principles when it makes decisions:
- The best interests of the whole and caring about the (perspective of the) individual
- Investing wisely to do the right thing
- Inspired by innovation for transformation and committed to maintaining and improving core activities
- Purposeful partnerships.
